The idea of Occidentalism Hassan Hanafi interesting to study because the ideas pertaining to the position of Muslims who are increasingly shifting the culture of Islam and knowledge to progress toward modernization, technology, Western culture that made him forget his duty as a religious man. Hassan Hanafi considers this shift is due to the influence of Western culture or Europe in the knowledge and scientific advancement mengkiblatkan all of the West, so that the spread in the body of thought Muslims always exalt and humble themselves against the West, especially through Islamic education. starting from the definition of the term, theory, form, and sciences are taught in Islamic education has been much influenced by the ideology of Western liberalism. The only way to overcome this is to the concept of Occidentalism according to our attitude toward the West as Western orientalism resistance. This attitude to our national neutralize that the West is no longer the subject of knowledge and research are positioned to be the subject of a source of knowledge and culture. Occidentalism is done to regrow from Islamic culture and human will experience a new era in which there is no latent racism diseases such as occurred during the formation of the European consciousness which eventually became part of the structure. so that the regrowth of human knowledge and education should mengkiblatkan Western paradigm. because we as human beings are given intellect must not only accept it without analyzing it in advance of Islamic education. And on this occasion the concept of Occidentalism Hassan Hanafi will try to be analyzed using the theory of Islamic education.
By analyzing the concept of Occidentalism in the form pendididkan Hassan Hanafi Islam. The study aims to reveal the intent and purpose of Occidentalism idea if, viewed from the theory of Islamic education.
The method of research is library research (library research). According Sutrisno Hadi Library Research is a research based on the study of literature. Appropriate focus of study are discussed namely: the concept of Occidentalism Hassan Hanafi in the Theory of Islamic Education (Study Book Muqaddimah Fi'Ilm al Istighrab work of Hassan Hanafi). Then the authors collected data derived from the writings of Hassan Hanafi who has been translated into Indonesian, Islamic Education and other resources relevant to the study. whereas in its analysis the author uses content analysis method (content analisys) the source of primary data and secondary data. With this technique, data were then selected, selected, analyzed it critically to obtain concrete formulation according to the author's views.
Occidentalism concept Hassan Hanafi when analyzed with theory and forms of Islamic education proved to be only the concept of Islam by offering the concept pembahruan Occidentalism as resistance western orientalism. Pembahruan of Occidentalism concept here is done of culture, knowledge, thought, awareness and education closer to Islam. with Occidentalism we examine Western culture with glasses our knowledge as a subject to study the West as an object for us. by examining the actual Western culture the concept of Islamic education that needs to be developed is in the process of their education that forms of Islamic education forms can be useful for the community, nation, and religion. However pembahruan here is not without interest. because actually pembahruan with Occidentalism is done to address the Western culture with certain truths through the mechanism of the power of Western interests. On the Western power as a source of knowledge even researchers and scientists should mengkiblat against West must restore the natural kebatas West. Working of power not only through our national culture system but also run through the scope of Islamic education discourse.
After analyzing the concept of Occidentalism Hassan Hanafi in Islamic educational theory, the authors suggested that the study looked at the form of Islamic education in Islamic values without siding advancing science of the West. In fact it has many Muslim intellectuals who offer the concept of Islamic pembahruan both of culture and education, that are being developed in the education process so that the views of Muslim Islam can examine and give a new concept for the sake go forward.
